About Lindsay Burns & Company

Lindsay Burns & CompanyLindsay Burns & Company are Scotland’s leading family run auctioneers. Our office and saleroom is located at 6 King Street in Perth. The building, completed in 1834, was designed by William MacDonald Mackenzie and is typical of late Georgian ecclesiastical design. Boasting magnificent architecture with spectacular period stained glass windows by Jones and Willis of Birmingham. The building is featured in the ‘Heritage of Perth’ by W H Findlay. The large open floor space is ideal for presentation of lots while secure viewing cabinets are used for smaller pieces. The saleroom also benefits from an on-site car park along with facilities for disabled persons.

Last year saw the Company celebrate it's 25th year in business which was founded by Lindsay and Elspeth Burns in 1982. The Company ensures a professional approach to managing your property with a friendly and approachable service tailored to meet your requirements.

The Company consists of the Valuation and Auction department, Accounts and Administration department and Operations team.

Valuation and Auction

Lindsay BurnsLindsay Burns is the principal auctioneer with over thirty-five years experience in the auction world. Lindsay has a comprehensive knowledge of all disciplines with specialist expertise in Scottish Pictures, Silver, Jewellery and 18th and 19th century Furniture.

Nick BurnsNick Burns  joined the company in 2006 and brings with him ten years experience of working with various leading international auction houses, having completed a degree in Fine Art Valuation. Nick has an excellent general knowledge and specialist knowledge in Ceramics and Glass, 19th/20th Century Decorative Arts and Asian Art. To contact Nick, click here.

Accounts and Administration

Elspeth BurnsJill MairIn charge of the busy accounts department is Elspeth Burns (left). She is ably assisted by Jill Mair (right) who has special responsibility for co-ordinating the office and sale administration.

Operations

Keith BallantineKeith Ballantine is the saleroom manager. With 15 years of working for the company, Keith has an excellent general knowledge and recognises the importance of dealing with clients' property and organising an ever-changing saleroom.
