Selling at Auction

We are able to value your property in the following ways and are able to offer a free, prompt and confidential service without any obligation to sell.

  • Bring your items to the saleroom to have a specialist inspect them. Please see the Contact page for details
  • Post or email images to us. Please see the Contact page for details.
  • Make an appointment for a specialist to visit you.
  • Attend one of our Valuation Days

We will discuss your property with you and suggest sale estimates, auction dates and reserves where appropriate. You will be issued with a receipt listing the property for sale with our terms and conditions of sale.

Vendor Charges

  • Vendor commission – 15% (minimum £15 commission charge)
  • Loss and Damage charge – 1.5%                                                
  • Internet illustration charge £8 (General Sale), £10 (Antique and Fine Art sale)
  • Catalogue Illustration charges (Antique and Fine Art Sales only)
  • Carriage/Restoration/Storage charges (if applicable)
All charges are subject to VAT

Advertising and Marketing
We are able to provide an excellent service in advertising and marketing your property.
We have an extensive database of clients sourcing particular items and have substantial media interest around particularly interesting lots or collections of items that we have coming up for sale. We regularly advertise and have extensive editorial coverage in the local and national newspapers, magazines and on the radio. Our Antique and Fine Art sales are live sales, transmitted via, ensuring all lots are viewed by an International audience. Sale results and media coverage can be viewed at the Media tab.

Transport and Storage
We are able to organise for the collection and delivery of your items. We are also able to offer storage facilities. Please see our Services tab for full details.

After your goods have sold, you will receive a cheque with a vendor statement listing the hammer prices achieved for your lots. Payment is 14 working days after a General Sale and 28 days after an Antique and Fine Art sale (provided we have received payment from the buyer) with the vendor charges listed and deducted. If any items fail to sell, we are able to re-offer them for you or you can arrange to collect them.
There are no unsold charges.
