A fine Scottish burr yew oblong snuff box with in-curved sides and integral wooden hinge, the cover inset with sixteen segmented rays of different woods, each separate wood bearing inscription of it's origin: 'Oak of Alloway Kirk', 'Birk of Aberfeldie' etc, the centre decorated with the first verse (words and music) of Robert Burns' poem 'Auld Lang Syne' within a wreath of thistles, the oval inlay to the base with entwined scroll inscribed with lines from 'Lay of the Last Minstrel' by Sir Walter Scott, and also inscribed 'D. CRAIG FECIT', with foil lined interior and four tiny silver stud feet, stamped inside cover 'D CRAIG, HELENSBURGH', early 19th century, 10.5cm. wideª
