A Scottish novelty brass snuff box in the form of a book with tooled spine and slide action opening, engraved to either side with a crown and hammer, one side inscribed 'By hammer and hand all art doth stand. When you remember me', the other side inscribed 'Andrew Kerr hammerman, his box 1721' with initials 'AKHM', early 18th century, 7 cm. long
